Our programs promote youth literacy and emotional well-being through the power of visual storytelling. By distributing graphic novels to children in need and showcasing the educational value of comics, CAP inspires young readers and encourages a lifelong joy of reading.
CAP-Stone Awards
The CAP-Stone Awards annually honors the projects that best reflect the breadth and quality of graphic story-telling while also expanding the medium’s legitimacy for classroom use.
Comicbook Creator Classroom (CCC)
CCC is a 9-week English Language Arts (ELA) support program at a Title I school called the Comicbook Creator Classroom (CCC). This program inspired two struggling fourth-grade classes to read, draw, and create their own adventures using their favorite characters and a series of engaging scaffolded class activities.
Dr. Ben Tate Inspirational Scholarship
Established in 2025, a $1000 scholarship for aspiring young artists and writers
Graphic Novel Class Lending Sets
Sets of award-winning graphic novels that you can use in your classroom, in addition to teaching guides and other suppplemental resources.
Graphic Novel Library Expansion Grant
The Graphic Novel Library Expansion Grant is a literacy initiative established by the Comics Appreciation Project (CAP) to support public school media centers and their students by offering $500 worth of graphic novels.
Resilient Reads
A trauma-informed reading program for high schools designed to build resilience, empathy, and critical thinking through the power of graphic novels
Share Care Book Boxes
Book donations that comfort displaced children in medical and family crisis. We partner with foster care services, hospitals, domestic violence shelters, disaster recovery groups, and fellow nonprofits. We provide individual books as well as our special Share-Care Box.
